筹建大湾区大学是贯彻落实《粤港澳大湾区发展规划纲要》的重大战略举措。大湾区大学是由广东省人民政府举办、东莞市人民政府投入保障的公办普通高等学校。
The establishment of the Great Bay University (GBU) is a major strategic initiative under the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. GBU is a public institution of higher learning sponsored by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, with support from the Dongguan Municipal People’s Government.
办学定位 Positioning
以习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想为指导，立足湾区，面向全国，辐射全球，以理工为主，精理强工为基本特征，以“基础扎实、视野开阔、知行合一、融会贯通”为人才培养目标，培养具备创新思维、全球视野，具备家国情怀和终身学习能力，具备解决复杂问题和创新实践能力的高素质研究型人才，在重要科技领域培育一批领跑者，在新兴前沿交叉领域培育一批开拓者，建成“国际水准、开放包容、湾区特色”的新型研究型大学，为粤港澳大湾区科技创新要素自由流动、高等教育联动发展提供经验。
Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), GBU aims to serve the whole nation and extend its influence globally. With a primary focus on science and engineering, GBU is characterized by excellence in fundamental sciences and strength in engineering disciplines. And GBU is dedicated to cultivating high-caliber research-oriented talents who possess a robust academic foundation, broad horizons, the unity of knowing and doing, and the integration of disciplines. GBU strives to nurture talents with creative thinking, a global view, patriotism, and the abilities to learn for life, tackle complex problems and innovate in practice. GBU is committed to developing a cohort of leaders in key technological fields and pioneers in emerging interdisciplinary frontiers. GBU works to build itself into a new type of research university that meets international standards, embraces openness and inclusiveness, and embodies distinctive characteristics of the Bay Area. GBU also aims to provide valuable experience for facilitating the free flow of scientific and technological innovation elements and promoting the coordinated development of higher education in the GBA.
培养目标 Training Objectives
学校以“基础扎实、视野开阔、知行合一、融会贯通”为目标追求，聚焦物质科学、先进工程、生命科学、信息科学技术、理学、金融管理等6个领域，培养具备创新思维、全球视野，具备家国情怀和终身学习能力，具备解决复杂问题和创新实践能力的高素质研究型人才。
Robust academic foundation, broad horizon, unity of knowing and doing, and integration of disciplines are the goals that GBU pursues. With a focus on six directions, i.e. physical sciences, advanced engineering, life sciences, information science technology, sciences, and finance management, GBU is committed to nurturing high-caliber research-oriented talents with creative thinking, a global view, patriotism, and the abilities to learn for life, tackle complex problems and innovate in practice.
办学规模 University Scale
学校开展全日制本科和研究生教育，形成本硕博贯通式培养体系，预计2034年达到在校生10000人左右，本科生与研究生规模比例预计达1:1左右。
GBU provides full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programs with a through training system covering bachelors, masters and doctors. By 2034, it is expected to accommodate about 10,000 students, with an anticipated ratio of undergraduates to graduate students of approximately 1:1.
学生培养 Student Cultivation
针对本科生，首批设置数学与应用数学、物理学、材料科学与工程、计算机科学与技术、工业工程等5个本科专业，实行大类招生，分类培养，并对理学和工学等学科门类制定差异化的人才培养方案。
For our inaugural batch of undergraduate programs, we have introduced majors in mathematics & applied mathematics, physics, materials science & engineering,computer science & technology, industrial engineering. GBU employs a broad-based admission strategy, followed by specialized training, and has developed differentiated talent development plans for disciplines such as physical and engineering sciences.
针对研究生，按照先期开办学科方向开展先导培养，已与中山大学、哈尔滨工业大学（深圳）、南方科技大学、深圳大学、广州大学等高校联合培养硕士、博士共计400余人，并同步推进与北京大学深圳研究生院、香港中文大学、香港科技大学、澳门大学等高校开展联合培养博士研究生工作。
For postgraduate students, GBU has initiated a pilot training program in selected disciplines. We have collaborated with prestigious institutions such as Sun Yat-sen University, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University, and Guangzhou University to jointly train over 400 masters and doctoral students. Meanwhile, we are advancing collaborative doctoral training efforts with the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the University of Macau.
校园建设 Campus Construction
按照“一校两区”开展规划建设，总占地面积约2000亩，总建筑面积约100万平方米。其中松山湖校区建筑面积约24.77万平方米，滨海湾校区建筑面积约75万平方米，两校区共同承载“教育教学”“科教产融合”“国际合作”三大功能。
As planned, GBU has two campuses covering a total land area of approximately 2,000 mu and a built area of about 1 million square meters, including the 247,700 square meters Songshan Lake Campus and the 750,000 square meters Binhaiwan Bay Campus. Both campuses collectively support three major functions: education & teaching, research-education-industry integration, and international cooperation.
松山湖校区主要配合综合性国家科学中心，建设与大科学装置、新型研发机构相融合办学的学科领域。
Songshan Lake Campus mainly focuses on supporting the GBA Comprehensive National Science Center to develop academic disciplines that integrate with the large-scale scientific facilities and new R&D institutions through a collaborative educational model
滨海湾校区同步启动，主要满足本科生和研究生培养、产学研合作和国际合作、创新创业孵化以及行政办公等。
Binhaiwan Bay Campus, developed concurrently, primarily caters to undergraduate and graduate education, facilitates industry-university-research collaboration and international cooperation, supports innovation and entrepreneurship incubation, and provides administrative offices.
